I just switched from categories to tags. Tagging is way more flexible for ‘making categories’, linking information, … and then some. Just installed the ultimate tag warrior plugin and converted all my categories to tags. Now this is tricky as my categories have been set up since i started this blog 3 years ago and haven’t changed since. Tags are way more flexible and change as my interests change, thus, making the tagcloud actually tell something interesting. For now you’ll have to stick with this. One day when I got too much time (when, oh when?) I’ll skim through old posts and tag them appriopriatly. Probably I’ll hack the wikipedia script to give me named entities for each post which i can then simply click and turn into tags. Once that is finished I’ll add a module to my bliki plugin to also work on TWiki. But when that will happen..?? “Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future.” ~ Niels Bohr

amarok scripts
I’m already a great fan of the amarok kde/linux audioplayer. I use windows, osx and linux but have never found a better player with all these neat features. However, today I found out they also got some great scripts extending the players capabilities. Notable are 911 tabs which shows the guitar tabs of the current song playing, copyplaylist which copies your current playlist to your mp3 players, coverprint which prints the current playlist as a cd cover, nightingale which shuts down your pc after the last track, and recordradio which records any radio stream.

sCrAmBlEd?HaCkZ!
Wow!!! One of the coolest things I’ve seen lately; scrambledhacks is a nifty app! In short … videoclips are sequenced in parts by their waveform. The soundsignatures of all snippets are calculated and saved in the database. Now somebody can make noises and sounds in a microphone. The program finds the closest soundsignature in the database in real time and video and sound are outputted.
